We are thrilled to introduce our latest round of grant recipients, who embody the spirit of hope and progress.

In 2023, the Meaningful Work Foundation proudly partners with thirteen exceptional organizations that are changing lives and creating brighter futures. These organizations, driven by their unwavering commitment and innovative approaches, are making a profound impact on their communities.

Options Mississauga Print and Office Services is an essential part of Options Mississauga, a registered charity empowering adults with intellectual disabilities to access and sustain employment. With 30 years of success, Options Mississauga runs four employment training programs and two social enterprises. Their Retail Training program provides skills in retail operations, customer service, cash handling, printing, and teamwork. Revenue supports the organization, which offers Arts Training, Culinary Training, and Creative Writing programs to increase employability and community integration. Options Mississauga breaks down barriers and creates a welcoming work atmosphere.

Michael House Pregnancy and Parenting Support Services is a grassroots organization empowering pregnant and parenting young women and their children. For 20 years, they provide safe shelter, programming, and support to break cycles of poverty, abuse, trauma, and addiction. Through their Supportive Housing Program, they offer stable housing, education, employment readiness training, and trauma-informed programs. Michael House fosters positive parenting, mental wellness, and community-based support. They empower vulnerable mothers for brighter futures.

Loving Arms is a Canadian charity transforming the lives of underprivileged families in rural Guatemala. They provide education, cooperative initiatives, and employment opportunities. Loving Arms operates the Centre of Hope, empowering the local community through education, training, and support. Their programs, including child sponsorship and cooperative initiatives, create self-sufficiency and a brighter future for families.

Raising the Roof is a Canadian organization dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness. Through programs like Reside, they renovate vacant properties into affordable housing, providing employment and training opportunities. Raising the Roof aims to create affordable housing and meaningful work opportunities. Their comprehensive approach includes wrap-around support for trainees, breaking the cycle of poverty.

Fresh Start Recovery Centre is a transformative organization providing housing, treatment, and support for individuals affected by addiction. They offer a 90-day intensive treatment plan, counseling, group healing, physical training, and nutrition. Fresh Start assists clients with employment support, resume writing, job referrals, and skill development for successful transitions after treatment. They are committed to helping individuals find lasting recovery.

YES (Youth Employment Services) empowers disadvantaged youth in Canada through employment programs, job placements, mental health support, mentorship, and skills training. With over five decades of experience, YES removes obstacles and fosters resilient communities. They recognize the transformative power of employment and provide tools and opportunities for youth to succeed in their careers.

Nisa Homes offers transitional homes and support to women and children facing intimate partner violence, homelessness, poverty, and forced resettlement. Through personalized plans, educational programs, life skills workshops, and mental health support, Nisa Homes empowers clients to achieve independence, secure employment, and create a better future.

Furniture Bank is a Toronto-based charity breaking the cycle of furniture poverty. Since 1998, they collect and redistribute donated furniture and household goods to economically vulnerable individuals and families. Through social employment programs, Furniture Bank provides training, job opportunities, and skills development, fostering personal and professional growth towards financial independence and stable careers.

The Citizens Foundation Canada (TCF Canada) provides quality education to children, with a focus on empowering women and breaking the cycle of poverty. TCF Canada offers education, digital literacy, and strong foundations, creating opportunities for personal growth and future employment. They support professional development and career advancement, making a lasting impact on underprivileged children’s lives.

Making Changes Association (MCA) empowers immigrant and Indigenous women in Calgary through pre-employment training, IT skills, personal style consulting, and youth empowerment programs. MCA removes barriers to employment and supports women in developing skills and professional networks to gain access to stable jobs.

African Community Technical Services (ACTS) eliminates water poverty and promotes community thriving in Uganda. They provide clean water, hygiene, sanitation, and entrepreneurship training, empowering individuals to increase income and break barriers to employment. ACTS fosters economic self-sufficiency and sustainable development.

The Raw Carrot Soup Enterprise provides meaningful employment to individuals facing barriers to traditional work environments. Through a social franchise model, they create permanent jobs by partnering with organizations to produce gourmet soup. They aim to expand their social enterprise partnerships, creating more jobs and advocating for systemic change.

Junior Achievement (JA) of Central Ontario prepares young people for success in the global economy. JA Central Ontario offers work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy programs to develop critical life skills and equip students for job opportunities. They address youth unemployment and skill gaps, empowering students for a brighter future.
