Welcome to Raise
Our Story
Raise’s story begins in 1957, when engineering partners Ian Martin and Mary Masson founded a consulting practice. When one of their major building projects was unexpectedly cancelled, they made a bold decision: rather than let go of their engineers, they began contracting out their services to other firms.
That instinct — to be agile, and care for people by keeping them working — became the foundation for Raise.
Over nearly seven decades, Raise has evolved from its consulting roots, and the Ian Martin name, into an innovative workforce partner that now serves some of the world’s most recognized brands.
Raise has celebrated many firsts: among the earliest adopters of Direct Sourcing, one of the first to integrate AI into sourcing workflows, and a pioneer in designing great contractor experiences.
Today, Raise continues to grow with the same spirit that defined its founders — agility, resourcefulness, innovation and care.

Our Values
Raise exists to connect people in meaningful work.
For the clients and candidates we work with every day, that means connecting great talent with great companies. For us, every job opening is an opportunity to move a career, a project, and even an entire industry forward.
But our success is also indebted to the countries and communities that our teams live, work, and thrive in. That’s why Raise is committed to giving back—we donate 10% of our profits to our Meaningful Work Foundation, which funds organizations that are removing barriers to employment, particularly for groups who have been historically and systematically excluded from equal work and pay.
We’re also the only staffing firm in North America that is a Certified B Corporation and Bronze PAIR Certified with the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business, which ensures that we’re third-party audited for our social and environmental impact.
In 2018, Raise puts its beliefs into action and became a self-managed company. With oversight from senior leadership, managers gave up their positional authority and teams began self-organizing their projects and decisions. This decision has led to the amazing team we have today, where ownership thinking and engagement are greater than ever.
Raise is looking forward to a bright future where more people have access to great jobs. If you want to join us, apply now or start the conversation with our sales team today!
